Golf brought freedom I was reading an interview Which really was nothing new But something new occurred A voice for the first time was heard A voice said it’s me I am that golfer A sudden feeling of gratitude And that feeling had no attitude Just realizing what I had had I’d never really felt that sad And that in fact this has been a really nice place to be Synopsis: I was reading an interview with Ricky Ross (Deacon Blue) & Ricky was commenting on that during the mid 90s he had become frustrated with the treadmill of being a pop star and that he was sick of the media circus. He commented that he was in a plane flying back from London and below near Glasgow there were 3 guys playing on a golf course and he thought that they were really living life that they had freedom and that he felt trapped by the situation he was in, and that he had finally had enough. Whilst reading this I became increasingly aware that my own thought process was tapping away & that I was and have always been one of those guys on the golf course. I decided when I was very young maybe 15 or 16 that I wanted to be a DJ and I had simply become one, just like that, as you do. I had had the luxury of having fun traveling all over the place and got paid very well for it. I saw my son grow up had loads of time to see my wife. In general I had done all the things I wanted to do. I suddenly felt very grateful for the life I had and valued it very much.
